Rufus for Mac
Short answer: there isn’t one. Rufus is a Windows application — it has no macOS build, and nothing about how it’s built suggests that’s changing. If you searched for this because you want Rufus’s combination of speed, control, and Windows-installer options on a Mac, here’s what actually covers that ground.
Fast raw writes with real progress
A native privileged writer streams images directly to the device with live speed, progress, and ETA — the same raw-write approach Rufus uses on Windows.
GPT or MBR, your call
Format-only mode supports GPT or MBR with FAT32, exFAT, or Mac OS Extended, including custom cluster sizes and multi-pass media checks.
Windows Setup answer files
Applies Rufus-style install-time options to Windows ISOs: hardware-check bypasses, offline setup, no forced Microsoft account, an optional local administrator.
What about Etcher?
Etcher does run on macOS, and it’s a reasonable default for a lot of people. It doesn’t have Rufus-style Windows Setup answer files, its device detection is more basic, and in 2025 the Tails project dropped it from their own instructions over a privacy issue — see the full comparison for details and a source.
